Aspect Ratio

A way of expressing the relative dimensions of a rectangle, often used for video or image advertising. For example, a screen that is 200 pixels wide and 300 pixels high has an aspect ratio of 2:3.

The relationship between the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the image. Example: 35mm film = 3:2, TV = 4:3, HDTV = 16:9, 4x5 film = 5:4.
