This is an American term. Basically, it means to get reward or favor, or to solve a small problem with someone. which one:
1. Congratulate the teacher and get passion points. (Stay tuned for teacher approval or help)
2. He argued with me to get only a few routine points (won a little fight to clear the account from just one person).
