I want to open a checking account in the United States. I've seen F2, so I don't have SSN. What are my options? 3
I have an ITIN issued by IRS. And a valid passport and visa. I also have an American Express credit card in my name, which I received by adding it to my wife's account. Can I open an account? Most importantly, is it legal for F2 visa holders to have a checking account?

As long as it's a legal visa, there should be no problem. Even better if your wife has an account with you. My husband is here on an L1B visa and opening a checking account was easier than he expected. Call another bank and ask. If the person you are talking to does not know, contact the bank manager. Don't deny the answer unless the bank manager says so.
