Can you apply powder paint on Chrome code? 3

I have a set of 4 chrome rims, two of which are chipped chrome and look awesome. I was wondering if you could put a layer of chrome powder on it. Will it stay I know I can't sand them and they don't do chemical strippers, so I have to get the code to work and?

Well, I've written a book on the subject, so let me try it out:

With chrome plating, like powder coating, the material is applied to the substrate (aluminum, steel, etc. from below). If Chrome is chipping, there is a good chance that the pre-fabricated steel and / or aluminum are not properly prepared and that whatever you put on Chrome will peel off over time. , But not as fast as Chrome itself.

Adding a coat of powder (or paint) to chromium only reduces the damage rate because the powder binds to chromium (more on that later). By default, when Chrome comes out, everything sticking to the top will come out (except the tension glue on the edge of the chrome flake).

So here we go, basically, if the chrome is chipping, then adding a coat of powder or paint will only slow down the process if the loose chrome is not removed.

My SP did a lot of work on wheels like you and how we did it:

Remove visible Chromeflex. Depending on the surface (steel or aluminum), it is best to use steel or brass spokes wheels. Be aggressive here because you want to make sure that whatever is not strong comes out immediately. Smooth the edges of the chrome and a fine substrate with thin wire wheels (thinner than rubbing).

Most will use scotch bright pads, 120 grit wet / dry sandpaper, or lint-free spoke wheels that can scrape off the shine of the chrome to remove any remaining shiny chrome. This is painful, but it is important to keep the powder paint at the molecular level as it heals.

Bathe the wheel with hydrochloric acid to remove any grease or contamination. This is actually y dangus (used to separate s). You might run away from an airplane, which is used to remove paint (I know there's no paint on Chrome, right?), But it removes all the grease and so on. Rinse the wheels very well. Rinse one, rinse the other.

Now place the wheel for the ingredients in the oven at 400 1m for 1 µm, take it out and let it cool. With gloved hands (preferably cloth) (so as not to contaminate the piece) it can now be coated with powder. After this step, do not let the day pass, otherwise dust will accumulate on it and the powder coating will be damaged till the wheels are cleaned.

At this point, you can apply a powder coating or make a viable powder coating instead of an industrial powder coating. Take it to someone who specializes in high-end automotive and / or motorcycle work because it requires more attention to detail than installing light poles or ■■■■■■.

Lastly, since your wheel is already chipped in Chrome, it's a good idea to post it on eBay so that other people will not be bothered, as a real powder coating professional can clean Chrome from $ 100 per wheel. $ 200 will charge, with chemical bypass, rinse again and finally apply powder (very transparent, binoculars, etc.). If you decide to build your own whale, you can expect real boredom with people over 12 years old. If powder coating is done by a specialist, it should be guaranteed for 5 years (excluding edges).

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but too much information is too little to better. I work for a lot of TV development shows so I have very little experience in such situations.

It looks like Chrome can't be painted or sprayed.

I found this on the web (see Q&A):

Yes, you can apply chrome powder coat. Powder runs entirely on chrome. I am playing with my Corvette and there are problems with Z.

It may have powder coated wheels.

They are first blown to form a coating to process the powder coating.

It's not easy to undo once you're done, so make sure you choose your colors carefully.

Yes, they are scratched and scattered. But check the paper to see if you can find a cheap used wheel mite. But I'm not sure.

ioa repair sp, and no, it requires a lacquer-like surface that sticks very well to sand and priming and will probably last forever, but this is the only correct way. Well, at least I didn't go down without explaining myself first.
