Difference between bumper and side panel

In a car, the side panels (or rear spoiler for the rear panel) are generally considered panels and they cover the area between the tailgate and the trunk, the front wing (wing). And the envelope around the OD is sometimes mistakenly called a quarter plate.

The fenders are on each side of the front and the side panels are T-shaped at the back. Think of it as a back panel.

A small number of vehicles also have spare parts which can be called rear fender. Two examples that come to mind are the bolt-on fenders that attach to the bedside table to cover the exterior wheels of a two-wheeled vehicle and the rear fenders that attach to the rear of the VW Fuscos.

Fenders are able to move to the front, also called the front panel. Side panels are a description of the panels that make up the corners and sides of the car.
