We needed a dining table and chairs for our son and a coffee table and drawers. We want cheap furniture, but is there any standard furniture? I don't want to break, but I don't want to break on furniture. Reviews are much appreciated.
I think you can check with the locals what they are doing to their homes. They usually last only a few years and then turn into novelty. Antique furniture is usually minted and can be purchased cheaply over the phone or at a manufacturer's store. Help for example!

You can't get high quality cheap furniture from any furniture store. No such thing.
With real estate sales, classifieds and auctions, you can get high quality furniture at affordable prices.
IKEA is cheap and you have to deposit it. Ashley's furniture is cheap and requires assembly in addition to the sofa. No company has standards. Unless you plan to buy furniture every 4-5 years.
If the furniture arrives in seconds or tastes good, try a thrift store near you. Or you could try Freecycle, the network where everything happens.

If you want it really cheap, sometimes you can find really good furniture at furniture stores. You may not buy a chair there, but the wood can be cleaned and sanded or painted to give it a whole new look. Also try Craig's list. Otherwise, check this:
You should really take a look at thrift stores and real estate sales. I have an old sideboard and I painted it to use as a closet in my daughter's first apartment. It fits well in the room and has shelves and drawers, which makes it more useful.
