By law, the employer must create and submit W2 for last year's income by January 31st. If you have moved and you have not provided the forwarding address to your employer, the document you have submitted will be returned as non-delivery and you can contact HR or Payroll And they will send it to the address you provided. If you have received the original and it is lost or in the wrong place, follow the procedure you saw and get a copy from the employer. If you accept the receipt and still have it, the second copy, called COPY 1, will be used to return it to the state of New Jersey. Copy A is used for federal reporting and any additional copy 1 may be used appropriately for local or school tax returns. Note: Postal copies of the decision are accepted along with any testimony that you have to submit.

The IRS copy does not contain any status data. Contact your employer or contact your state after June.

Hertz should have sent you an email or at least a text message in January to access your W2 online.
