Hooplehead - How To Discuss

Hooplehead

Can anyone tell me what OPLEHEAD means?

Where does it come from?

I often hear about it on the TV series Wood.

I also heard the word OPLE on NYPD blues.

In wood, the term oplehead is an anachronism.

The American History Dictionary of Sling has several recent uses for the term.

It's hard to relate to a major character, a comic book character created in the 1920s and therefore not imported from 1876 wood.

Open mind

The word Opel comes from Op Pool, the stick you try to hit with Op while playing the old English fairground game Opla. ople then fails because when Al Swearengen's character refers to someone as Opel Head, he only calls them ********.

In the United States, the term oplehead comes from the word ople, which means difficult. In the UK we might say p ** head.

I remember the word used in the Lonsom Dove series. I checked and they referred to a group of people dedicated to the arts.
