You are on Monday and today is Friday. Do you think they are still edible?

I get this question all the time in my autograph sessions, television interviews and so on. A good rule of thumb is to remember Rule 3.

3 days in the fridge

3 months in the freezer

I would say that if you have a bad idea when to eat leftover food ... then freeze them.

Of course, some foods have a longer shelf life and some frozen foods depend on canned food. The vacuum bag in the freezer really needs a break. But most of us keep things in our zip bags and in our freezers.

At this point, freezing becomes a problem. But the principle of three is very useful. On the other hand, I have a roommate in college who seems to be able to digest unfamiliar food from the fridge!

I work in the catering business and the state forced us to throw away the leftovers in 3 days, 72 ur. At home, I follow the same advice. When in doubt, get rid of it!

Yes, I usually eat leftovers in 3-4 days, but not anymore.

Even if they are lightly cooked and refrigerated within 5 hours of cooking, they are still safe to eat.
