Is Nail Polish Remover An Acid
Is Nail Polish Remover Acidic, Basic or Neutral? 3
I did this with litmus paper and red paper being lighter and blue / purple paper also getting a little lighter, but I don't know why they both look the same color as real paper. Anyone know ?!
The main ingredient in nail polish remover is acetone. Acetone can act as a base or acid depending on the environmental conditions. You can see the link below for more information. Another ingredient is ethanol, but it has a pH close to 7, which makes it almost neutral. There may be other ingredients that can affect your results, but in general acetone (or CH3COCH3) can act as a very weak base and acid (pKa = 19).

This may sound strange, but if you do not have a nail polish remover, apply some nail polish, apply some glue to your nails, paint your nails and it may go away.
