Depending on the age of your device, you may have a type that needs to be lit from an old match or a new type that uses a piezo lighter, which is similar to a grill. If there is a small door under the gray box in front of the device, for example, if there is a dish, for example, remove it. If you can see the metal plate in the burner cavity without going through the small window, then you have the type of matches. Make sure the red color is in the off position above the gray box. Turn to the first station where the line is parallel to the pilot position. You may be able to press C in this position. This allows the gas to reach the pilot on its own, so you'll need to have a source in hand.
