If you have proof of your purchase or buy it with a credit card, the store can track your card number and save it on the new card.

Sorry, but Gift Card states that the store is not responsible for damage or theft. So the only option you have is to do what the other person says, get a receipt and see if they can help you, but maybe they can't do anything.

Not sure what you're asking. Once you have the receipt, you can take it to Target to see if they can do something for you, but chances are someone else will find and use it.
