Can I paint MDF without primer?
You can do without it, of course, but you use more paint without primer and for a decent finish use many more paint. As always with MDF, avoid anything water-based until the surface is well sealed or you’ll be lifting the fibers like crazy.
Do I need to prime MDF this way before painting?
Before painting MDF, you should always apply two or three coats of primer. For best results, you can simply sand the MDF with a primer in your coats. Wait at least an hour before starting to paint, otherwise the primer may not be completely dry. It is a good idea to prime both sides of a piece of MDF.
Can you also paint directly on MDF?
