Plastic Caps On Top Of Water Heater

Cut the plastic cap from the inside of the water heater. Broke the heater? 3

I am installing Maytag water heater. The inlet and outlet have a 3/4 threaded tube with a small blue plastic ■■■■■■■ on top. I squeezed the lid and tore off the cold side. Now he is deformed. I tried to get a good seal from above but I was afraid that water would leak between the plastic ■■■■■■■ and the pipe. Does the hose go directly into the tank or does this blue plastic need to be inserted to drain the water?

Wow, I'm amazed at the variety of responses you've received so far.

Don't worry, you didn't damage the water heater. Just use a pipe wrench to remove the SRT and replace it with 3/4 x 3 galvanized.

Plastic is not inserted to prevent metal-to-metal contact. (Since the inner thread of the supply line is connected to the outer thread of the tube, contact is made.)

Inside the plastic is a flow limiter that prevents water from rising (and water, of course), saving energy. Since there is a flow limiter on the tea side, don't worry.

As long as they are suitable compounds for various metals, they are not.

A dialectical connection is required if you connect galvanic to copper.

Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either.

You're right, this plastic insert goes straight into the tank, it's actually called a dip tube and sends cold water to the bottom of the tank to heat it. Without them, you will never get much water because the water comes from the top of the tank. The cold water that comes in warms and cools your bath.

This plastic is sealed with tubes in the factory. If it still exists, that's fine. Just level the top of the pipe and complete the installation.

If it looks like it has fallen into the tank, get a replacement from Maytag or your local plumbing supplier.

It's not for sale on my D.

It may be necessary to empty small pieces of plastic before starting the radiator, otherwise they may turn off the tap.

Hi ShopClick, I'm Mike with The Med.

The purpose of inserting plastic into the inlet pipe is to prevent direct contact of metal to metal, which can cause corrosion.

When different metals combine in the presence of water, a process called electrolysis occurs. It is an electrochemical reaction that causes corrosion and possible water leakage.

The simple solution is to go to your local dealer and buy a new ticket to replace the damaged one. Bad warehouses come out of the warehouse and new entries can be entered.

This is an electronic device. You can get a new one from most hardware stores. They prevent corrosion due to various metals. For example, suppose you have a copper water pipe, but the connection to the tank is made of galvanized steel. To prevent corrosion from forming, install electrical appliances that slow down the corrosion process. Like I said, don't worry. You can buy a new one at almost any hardware store.

Call Maytag 1800 and ask.

.

I will call maytag.

I think you are wrong.

The real question here is, can you put the pipe in the faucet and put a seal that puts pressure on the water tank?

Find your flyer anywhere in the box and you will find your 800 number.

You don't wake up Without informing its users, Maytag adds a flow limiter that looks exactly like a protective cap. I will ask them to give me a new one.
