When you connect the PS2 optical audio cable to the audio receiver, you get 5.1 surround sound. Sound quality is much better than using OG cable (e.g. red cable / E). At 30 2,030, this is a good investment if you want to use your audio receiver with your PS2. Keep in mind that not only games but also DVD movies have better audio quality.
For me, the loss of audio outweighs the physical signal interference, unless the wires are the doorbell wires, I can't imagine causing them. You want to see the build quality of the font options. You are using objectionable software which may be the culprit. Remove the software and test the systems one by one to see if you can minimize them.
