Symbian
Mobile operating system originally derived from Psions EPOC. Until 2009, Symbian was developed by an independent company jointly owned by Nokia, Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Panasonic, Siemens and Samsung, who licensed the platform to mobile phone manufacturers. In 2009, Nokia bought out the other owners and turned Symbian into an open source foundation. Since 2010, Symbian has been operating as an open source project managed by the Symbian Foundation, the open source governing body of Symbian.
