The purpose of prophylactic therapy is not to cure a disease, but to prevent it. For example, if you are going to have surgery, you will be given prophylactic antibiotics, not because you have an infection, but to prevent it. The vaccines we received during our stay were all protective because we did not have polio or German measles.

A diagnostic trnt will be used for this diagnosis. The doctor is still not sure what is happening and may want to see how you react.
