WiGig
The working name for 60 GHz indoor wireless technology developed by a group of companies known as the Wireless Gigabit Alliance (WGA). The objectives of the WGA are to develop and promote technologies that enable short-range transmission at a rate of at least 1 Gbps with a range of 10 meters. The Alliance expects some implementations to exceed 6 Gb/s. WiGig is intended to be a universal standard used for a wide variety of devices, including PCs, PDAs and consumer electronics. Possible applications include streaming media, PC docking station, universal networking, and file transfer.
